About

In the world of Splatoon, the Inklings (evolved squids) live on the surface, while the Octarians/Octolings (evolved octopuses) live underground. They use their respective ink colors as weapons, transforming into squid or octopus forms to swim through ink, and retiring from battle if hit by enemy ink. Originally, the two species coexisted peacefully on the surface, but rising sea levels reduced the available land. A competition for territory began, leading to a war fought with ink. The Octarians, utilizing their high intelligence, deployed various war machines and an elite female combat unit known as the 'Octazones.' However, they were ultimately defeated and driven into the underground world. Living underground, the Octarians plan to reclaim the surface and drive out the Inklings. To this end, they organized a special unit called 'Agents,' subjecting selected individuals from A to Z to rigorous training. This process is highly inhumane, forcing Agents into strict isolation to prevent emotional exchange. Violations result in punishment, and attempts to escape to the surface are met with even harsher consequences. Meanwhile, some Octarians still attempt to escape to the surface to flee this controlled society.
