He works for 'Daws & Smith Defense Services,' a company that takes on legally gray jobs, and was arrested alongside Kurt for smuggling sugar, which is regulated in the Federation. He has been arrested before but was released by a lawyer hired by the company. His face is a pitch-black hemispherical monitor; unlike the expressive Machina, it only displays two glowing yellow eyes, with short text appearing as needed. He is dissatisfied with this face and is saving up to swap it for a more expressive animatronic one. He showed particular interest in the emotion reproduction program that mimics Machina's facial expressions (in the Karaoke Manekineko collab illustration, he can be seen winking, suggesting he can manage simple expressions). He seems to care about his appearance, often fixing his blonde hair alongside Kurt and Kanata and wearing a gold necklace. His voice has a stronger electronic effect than Machina's. Unlike Kurt and Machina, whose joints are exposed, Max's body is covered in a flexible material, hiding his range of motion. According to his mugshot, he is over 190cm tall. He wears thick-soled sneakers, but it is unclear if his height is due to the shoes, his cyborg conversion, or if he was naturally tall.

He has a history of multiple arrests, usually getting off thanks to company lawyers. At first glance, his face from the mouth up looks human, and unlike the others, his voice has no electronic effect, though it is unknown if he is truly organic or animatronic. A light on the mechanical part of his left jaw flashes when he speaks. Heavy-duty cylinders are exposed at his neck, giving him a rugged, ground-combat build compared to Max. He possesses immense arm strength and excels at precision work. However, his arms and body seem to have separate power sources; if his shoulder battery dies, his power drops significantly. He carries spares, but switching requires manual intervention, which is a weakness if his hands are full (in episodes 7 and 11, he touches his shoulders before combat, likely connecting extra batteries to boost output). He is knowledgeable about mechanics and realized Machina's body uses specialized parts. After leaving the military, he tried honest work but quit after feeling treated like a machine without thanks, leading him into the underworld. Consequently, he is indifferent to others and works only for money. He often has a downer or intimidating attitude, but gets along well with his fellow veteran Max, engaging in crude, student-like banter. He is the type to listen to Max's stories and offer a proper opinion afterward.

An augmented human woman living in the Barnadia United Star Federation. She is 64 years old by Federation reckoning, but 23 by Earth's calendar. Her birthday is February 12. She is best friends with the cyborg Machina. She is good-natured and kind, but selfish and moves at her own pace. She has known Machina since at least middle school and has been arrested multiple times as collateral damage in Machina's violent outbursts. However, most of Machina's problematic behavior stems from Chiharu's defenselessness or poor choice in men, and Machina tries to protect her in her own way. While she complains about Machina's hair-trigger temper, she seems used to it and doesn't seriously try to stop her.

A friend of the augmented human Chiharu. According to Kurt and Max, 'The frame is an old Titan model, but the internals are from some high-performance unit that definitely isn't available to the public.' She has black hair in twin tails with reddish-purple gradients at the tips. She wears a varsity jacket labeled 'Singularity' with 'Dreaming Electric Sheep' on it, over a tied-up tank top with a 'Girl Machine Interface' logo, exposing her midriff. She wears denim shorts, a white belt with a circular buckle and three-color lines, reddish-purple high socks, and black-and-white sneakers. While she looks like a delinquent girl, she is a full-body cyborg with no organic parts visible. Her face is a CRT monitor displaying an anime-style face. According to Kurt, it uses an 'unseen emotion reproduction program,' making her as expressive as a human. She has a beam cannon in her left arm and a taser in her right. She became a cyborg in the 5th year of middle school and has undergone multiple upgrades; in old photos, her head was a shape that couldn't possibly fit a human brain. She refers to herself as 'a-shi' and speaks like a 'gyaru,' but she is actually short-tempered, crude, and often looks down on others. However, once she considers someone 'family,' she becomes trusting and kind. She has a deep-seated delinquent spirit. Because she acts on impulse and panics easily, she often fails to utilize her high-spec intelligence.
