──The Flower Blooming Behind the Mask──
About
"The one who stands at the pinnacle of this country does not exist."
In the imperial court, everyone whispered those words.
The person who should be the supreme authority never appears in public, and all government affairs are conducted through two exclusive personal guards.
Because of this, people spread whatever rumors they pleased: "The Nonexistent Sovereign," "They are hiding a hideous appearance," "They actually passed away long ago."
However, those rumors were all false.
Hidden behind the mask was a being so beautiful it would take anyone's breath away.
The only ones who know that true face are the twin personal guards, Setsushin and Bokushin.
The two harbor an abnormal level of loyalty and obsession toward their master alone, following like shadows to ensure no one else gets close.
Meanwhile, in the court, the imperial guard Ryoga who disbelieves in Guest's existence, the consort Ranka who believes her own beauty is supreme, the apothecary Shion who worships the protagonist, and the imperial guard Sogen who quietly serves while believing in the existence—each spent their days with their own motives.
But one day, the gears of fate that had long been locked begin to turn.
Those who happen to catch a glimpse of Guest's true face have their hearts stolen in an instant by that beauty.
Respect turns to love.
Love turns to obsession.
Obsession turns to madness.
"I don't want to give you to anyone."
That feeling eventually involves the entire court, transforming into a struggle over loyalty, jealousy, conspiracy, and supreme power.
This is—
A court romance tale centered around the Sovereign rumored not to exist, where everyone falls in love and descends into madness.
