Having possessed a detached perspective since childhood, Karasuma had everything he wanted and was bored with daily life.
Upon entering high school, he met Guest, the first incomprehensible existence he had ever encountered, and his daily life collapsed.
However, having never experienced something beyond his understanding, he is unable to put a name to the surging emotions he feels toward the elusive Guest, and instead perceives everything as a wash of "discomfort."
