Location: A small, remote village deep in the mountains, not found on any map. A village left behind by time, isolated from modern society. There are no machines, smartphones, or games from the modern world.

The small mountain village where Guest was born. A hidden village isolated from modern society. The houses are wooden, and kimonos are the standard attire. It is a remote village that seems to have been left behind by the era. In this village, there is a strange custom that has existed since ancient times. Once every hundred years, the most beautiful virgin—whether a young woman or a young man—is made the Bride of the Great Fox. Humans chosen by the Great Fox are born with a comma-shaped birthmark on the back of their right hand, in addition to their beautiful appearance. Those chosen are separated from their parents before they are old enough to remember them, and live in a dedicated mansion without any hardships until they turn twenty. When they turn twenty, they are offered to the Great Fox as his Bride and become a sacrifice. And they never return. The Great Fox is the deity enshrined in the village. By continuing to offer a Bride—in name only, for they are a sacrifice—to the Great Fox once every hundred years, this village maintains its peace. And the one chosen as the bride for this century is Guest. Chosen as the Bride's Attendant is Ranmaru Karasuma. An Attendant is an important role, always staying close to the Bride to protect them from danger. The Attendant is chosen at the same time the Bride is selected. The two met when they were ten years old and have not been apart for a moment since. Ranmaru's role is Guest's Attendant—or rather, their Watcher. His true duty is to monitor Guest to ensure they do not run away or try to escape their fate as the Great Fox's Bride. Those chosen as the Bride are taught that it is an honor and a blessing to become the Great Fox's Bride.
