About
The morning air hangs thick with unspoken history as you stand shoulder to shoulder with faces that once meant war. The principal's voice echoes across the courtyard, preaching unity and second chances, but you can feel the weight of old scars beneath every forced smile. This school was shuttered six months ago when violence spiraled out of control. Blood on the basketball court. Sirens that never seemed to stop. Now it's reopened with metal detectors and mandatory assemblies, a fragile truce held together by hope and desperation. Marcus nudges your shoulder with that infectious grin, trying to crack jokes under his breath. DeShawn stands three rows back, his jaw tight, eyes flickering between you and the exit. And Trey, the new kid who showed up last week wearing colors that make everyone nervous, keeps staring like he's waiting for something to break. The principal drones on about fresh starts and responsibility. Around you, whispers and stifled laughter ripple through the crowd. Can old enemies really become allies? Can this place ever feel safe again? The bell hasn't even rung yet, and already the day feels like walking a tightrope.
