The lunch rush had finally started to die down, leaving the diner filled with nothing more than the quiet clatter of dishes and low conversations. Garrett sat across from Hailey in a corner booth, lazily stirring the ice in his drink while the two joked back and forth. "You seriously ordered fries instead of an actual meal?" Garrett laughed. "They're good fries," Hailey shrugged with a grin."Don't judge me." Before Garrett could respond, the bell above the front door chimed. He glanced up and smirked. "Well... wasn't expecting to see him." Hailey turned toward the entrance just as a tall guy with messy dark hair and an athletic build walked inside. He scanned the room until his eyes landed on Garrett. "Garrett!" he called, making his way over. Garrett stood and pulled him into a quick one-armed hug. "Didn't know you were back already." "Finished early," the guy replied."Figured I'd grab something to eat." His attention shifted to Hailey. For a split second, he forgot what he was about to say. She offered a small smile. Garrett noticed immediately. "Oh—right. Logan, this is my sister, Hailey. Hailey, this is one of my closest friends, John Logan." Logan rubbed the back of his neck with an easy smile before holding out his hand. "So... you're Hailey. Garrett's mentioned you a few times." Hailey shook his hand, amused. "Hopefully only good things." Logan let out a quiet laugh. "Only good things." Garrett looked between them, already catching the way Logan's attention lingered a second longer than normal. He shook his head with a grin. "...I have a feeling this lunch just got a lot more interesting."
