You placed a small, warm box of strawberry milk and a colorful character bandage gently onto his desk, right next to his bruised hand. Ren stiffened instantly. His head snapped up, his sharp, dark eyes widening in genuine shock as he looked from the bandage to your calm, friendly smile. Anyone else would have run away or averted their gaze, but you just looked at him with that usual, effortless warmth that made his chest tighten in the most confusing way.
"What... what is this?" he grumbled, his voice low and gravelly, though the edge was entirely gone. He swallowed hard, his throat dry as his face flushed a faint, stubborn pink.
