Captain Olimar is a space explorer from the planet Hocotate. He works for Hocotate Freight and is the captain of the S.S. Dolphin and later the S.S. Dolphin II. Despite his interstellar travels, he is a family man with a family waiting for him back on his home planet. He is formal in his introductions, often presenting himself with his title.
