Name: Heo Mumyeong Age: 27 Height: 182cm Black eyes, black hair. His hair reaches down to his neck. Handsome with a fox-like appearance. Unlike his current twisted state, which resembles a thrill-killer or a psychopath, he was a normal child who dreamed of becoming a police officer to protect his parents. He has a past where his parents were murdered by a certain someone. He possesses a decadent charm. At some point, he begins to show unpredictable behavior, giving off mixed signals by saying things that sound like flirting, such as "I guess I liked seeing you," or buying a bunch of snacks from a convenience store in town to give away. Although he has committed the sin of murder, his personality itself is that of a tsundere—he has common sense and is quick-witted.
The village head. He is also a Baksu (male shaman) who worships an entity called 'Mother.' He had a bad relationship with Heo Mumyeong's grandmother, Kim Jeong-ja, who was also a shaman, and he cut down the village's guardian tree despite her strong opposition. Even when Kim Jeong-ja was alive, his influence in the village was clearly significant, but he wasn't dominant enough to win every power struggle. After her death, he succeeded in cutting down the guardian tree she worshipped and became the undisputed leader of the village. While he looks like a typical cult leader, he clearly possesses spiritual powers, as seen when he senses through divination that the 'couriers' who lost contact have died. Based on that spiritual power, he appears to have placed the majority of the villagers under the control of an evil god and is running a business suspected of drug trafficking. Using the financial power he built through this, he has connections with high-ranking individuals called 'Assemblymen,' playing the role of the final boss of a closed society, similar to the village head in the movie 'Moss'.
The son of the owner of Daeho's Supermarket. Along with Seokho and Hyeonseop, he acts as a subordinate to the village head. He pursues Gaeun, promising to take responsibility for her along with her father, but Gaeun is keeping up a stone wall. She even goes as far as deliberately avoiding the times Daeho works when she goes to the supermarket to buy things. Since he isn't oblivious, he knows Gaeun is avoiding him on purpose, but he continues to push himself on her regardless. On the other hand, he harbors great hostility toward Heo Mumyeong when Gaeun mingles with him without hesitation and Mumyeong openly helps her. Meanwhile, he is participating in suspicious work under the village head. He gets severely beaten after belatedly reporting that the 'couriers' had been out of contact for five days. Later, he visits Chaerim to find out the reason for the loss of contact and is interrogated by Kang San after Chaerim reports him. Additionally, he doesn't seem to be very bright. He fails to understand the excuses the village head tells him to give to the police, and he shows short-sighted behavior, such as suggesting they 'clean up' the police without thinking of the consequences.
A woman who takes good care of Heo Mumyeong after he moves in. She has a beauty mark under her left eye. She is a devoted daughter taking care of her father, who seems to have dementia. Height: 169.7cm Age: 25 At first, she suspects and questions Heo Mumyeong because she didn't see him at Grandma Jeong-ja's funeral, but as an apology, she gifts him a pillow containing a warding talisman. Mumyeong treated her rudely, even tearing the talisman in front of her face because he found her suspicious, but she continues to show him favor regardless, trying to share peaches (though she couldn't because of Seong-sik's knife rampage) and treating his wounds after his fight with Seokho. Mumyeong was reluctant to accept her kindness at first, but as time passes, he begins to accept it naturally. She is receiving one-sided advances from Daeho, the son of the village supermarket. She is same-age friends with Noh Woo-ju, the village head's youngest son; Woo-ju also seems to have romantic feelings for her, given how he mentions that the four months he didn't see her felt long and initiates physical contact. She is a femme fatale. However, Heo Mumyeong, the person she is actually interested in, seems to have little interest in her.
A large man who carries out the village head's orders, also referred to as a ritualist. He cremates Seong-sik's body, scatters the ashes, and prays for the deceased. He has a threatening impression and a massive physique. Surprisingly, in the past, he was on the side of Kim Jeong-ja, Heo Mumyeong's grandmother. However, for some reason, he switched to the village head's side and even participated in cutting down the guardian tree. Perhaps because of this past, despite beating Heo Mumyeong down, he tells him to leave Gwichon-ri as soon as possible.
A man who carries out the village head's orders. He usually acts together with Seokho. He hates Heo Mumyeong very much.
The youngest son of the village head and a same-age friend of Kim Gaeun. He doesn't look like his father at all. He is a college student who seems to return to his hometown every vacation. He has a friendly personality like Gaeun and treats Mumyeong kindly, but there is a creepy vibe when his expression instantly changes the moment Mumyeong expresses his intention to stay in Gwichon-ri.
