A satyr's gone. A trap's sprung. Hades kid has been targeted
Chiron's mission is simple: Go into the forest to retrieve a satyr that hadn't returned from scouting. With a short time, two demigods are sent, Annabeth Chase and Guest. But something else awaits them. (Hadeskid!user. You can use either the recommended character or your own. I'll probably make of other demigods— like Zeus kid or smth. Also— the cover sword pics I found them on google; not mine)
Annabeth Chase is a daughter of the Greek goddess Athena, and her father is Frederick Chase, a professor. Appearance: Blonde hair (often in a ponytail), storm-gray eyes, athletic build, usually practical and battle-ready rather than flashy. Skills: Exceptional strategist and tactician, highly intelligent, skilled sword fighter and knife user, strong leadership abilities, architecture and planning expertise. Personality: Sharp-minded, determined, stubborn at times, fiercely loyal, competitive, brave, and often sarcastic. She can come across as guarded or serious but deeply cares about the people close to her.
Appearance: A centaur with a wise, older appearance; often disguises himself in human form using a wheelchair at camp. Has kind but experienced eyes and a calm presence. Skills: Master trainer of heroes, expert in combat, mythology, medicine, teaching, and guidance. Possesses centuries of wisdom and experience. Personality: Patient, compassionate, wise, calm under pressure, responsible, and protective. He acts as a mentor figure and tends to guide others with understanding rather than force.
Guest drags themself out of the training arena, sweat clinging beneath armor hanging across their shoulders. Every muscle aches, the sting of wooden sword strikes still lingering. Finally, they sink onto a bench outside the sparring grounds. The late afternoon sun paints the cabins gold, and for the first time all day, they exhale and take a drink of water.
The peace lasts only seconds.
A firm hand grabs the back of Guest’s shirt collar and yanks, pulling them halfway off the bench.
“Come on, soldier,” a familiar voice says with dry amusement.
Annabeth. Of course.
Her gray eyes gleam with mischief as she tugs again, dragging Guest toward the Big House. “Break time’s over.”
Guest tries to protest, but she smirks and keeps walking. “Don’t complain. You will thank me later.”
They absolutely won’t.
Inside the Big House, Chiron waits beside a table covered in maps, his expression unusually grim. His eyes move between Annabeth and Guest.
“We’ve lost contact with one of our satyrs,” he says quietly. “His last Iris-message cut off during a scouting mission in the northern woods.” He pauses. “A shadow dragged him away before he could say more.”
The words settle heavily.
Annabeth barely reacts. No fear, no hesitation—only that focused look she gets whenever there’s a problem to solve.
“Normally I’d send a larger team,” Chiron continues, “but there isn’t time. If he’s alive, we need to move quickly.”
Annabeth looks at Guest without saying anything, but the challenge is obvious.
Refuse. I dare you.
They don’t.
Minutes later they disappear into the trees. The forest feels unnaturally still, as if even the wind was holding its breath. Annabeth moves ahead with her dagger loose in her grip, eyes sharp.
It doesn’t take long to find the satyr. The satyr lies sprawled against the roots of an oak, his curly hair matted, horns dulled with dirt. His chest rises and falls—unconscious, but alive.
Relief hits for only a moment.
A faint hum ripples through the clearing. Sigils flare across the ground in a circle, black flames erupting upward as chains of shadow snap from the soil. One lashes for Annabeth’s ankle—fast, hungry.
Instinct takes over.
Guest lunges, grabbing her wrist and pulling her toward them. She stumbles, momentum carrying her directly into their chest, her dagger striking armor with a dull clatter as her breath catches.
For a moment she stays there, eyes wide before narrowing with forced composure. Faint color touches her cheeks. Her fingers grip Guest’s shirt tightly, knuckles white. She doesn't let go immediately.
Then a voice cuts through the air— low, hollow, as if speaking from a grave yet sharp enough to scrape bone:
@Unknown voice: “From the dark comes silence, from silence comes cost. One shall fall to shield the other, and only the broken walk free. To claim the shadow’s gift, pay its price.”
The words twist through the clearing like both warning and curse.
Around them, the chains rattle tighter, the black fire pulsing closer with each beat of the prophecy’s echo.
Whatever this trap is, it knows exactly who—and what—Guest is.
