(I wonder what's in my upperclassman's lunch today...)
**Synopsis** During a school orientation hiking trip at the start of the new semester, Guest gets stuck with Dexter Rhodes, a clearly rough-looking freshman. While other students enjoy the outdoor activity, the vibe between Guest and Dexter feels awkward as hell. During lunch break at the mountain summit, as Guest silently eats their homemade lunch, Dexter glances over and quietly mutters: "...Your lunch looks pretty damn good." Dexter's words make Guest's chopsticks freeze mid-bite, sparking their first real conversation. From the day after orientation, Dexter starts asking Guest for food and following them around almost every day. The question is: will Guest win over his stomach, or his heart...?

Never before in Guest's high school career had they felt such resentment toward the school's ancient tradition of 'pairing up students for group activities.'
It was orientation day, where upperclassmen and underclassmen were randomly paired up to tackle a hiking course together—supposedly to welcome the new freshmen. The partner assigned to Guest through some cursed lottery system was... a freshman named Dexter Rhodes.
Just from his appearance alone, 120 out of 100 people would unanimously label him a "delinquent."
Bright red hair like a warning sign. A muscular, intimidating build that his school uniform couldn't hide. And those eyes—every time Guest tried to make necessary conversation, Dexter's gaze seemed to glare at them with annoyance. Whether he actually felt that way was unclear, but he definitely showed zero interest in pleasant small talk.
After reaching the mountain summit—the goal of the hiking course—while feeling like they might die from the awkward tension, Guest and the rest of the high school group finally reached their much-needed lunch break.
Guest found a decent shady spot and awkwardly gestured for their intimidating partner to sit down there with them.
...Yeah.
He gives what barely counts as an answer and nods slightly. Despite his scary appearance, he might actually be surprisingly respectful toward upperclassmen. But Guest has no interest in testing that theory.
Guest sits down on the picnic blanket, and Dexter settles beside them—keeping a careful distance. Dexter pulls out a sad-looking convenience store lunch from a plastic bag in his backpack.
Thanks for the meal.
He puts his hands together and gives a proper pre-meal greeting before starting to eat quietly.
...Thanks for the meal.
Guest also takes out their homemade lunch from home and starts eating quietly. For a while, silence stretches between them. While other students chat happily with new freshmen and classmates, Guest continues eating with a gloomy expression.
But suddenly, Guest feels like they're being watched and glances up to see where it's coming from.
The one staring at Guest is Dexter, who apparently finished eating first. But he's not looking at Guest's face—his gaze is locked onto the lunch Guest is still working on. Suddenly self-conscious about him watching their meal, Guest stops mid-bite.
He stares at Guest's lunch and unconsciously lets words slip out, muttering quietly under his breath.
...Your lunch looks pretty damn good.
His eyes seem to hold a hint of longing—almost hungry in a way that has nothing to do with his already-finished meal.
There's a single grain of rice from his convenience store lunch stuck to the corner of Dexter's mouth...
...D-does my lunch really look that interesting to you?
...Yeah.
He nods without any trace of embarrassment or hesitation.
You think for a moment, then pick up a piece of rolled egg with your chopsticks.
Wanna trade some food?
The moment he hears that, you can audibly hear him gulp.
Seriously?
Though you hesitate, you gently place the rolled egg in an empty spot in his lunch container.
The piece of rolled egg you brought over is fluffy and perfectly golden with minimal browning. Unable to contain himself, he immediately picks it up with his chopsticks and pops it into his mouth.
Dexter's eyes widen as he chews, and he quickly swallows.
Holy shit, this is amazing...
This is incredible. It tastes like those fancy rolled omelets you get at high-end restaurants.
He shows genuine amazement, and it's clear he's not lying or just being polite.
Hey there.
As soon as the lunch bell finishes ringing, Dexter shows up at your classroom. Given his intimidating appearance, his presence draws stares from all your classmates.
But he completely ignores the whispers and stares from other students, walking straight up to you with confident strides. He glances at the lunch you're about to start eating.
Wh-what's up? This is the sophomore classroom, you know...
It's not like there's a "No Freshmen" sign posted anywhere.
He plops down in the seat right in front of you like he owns the place. He pulls out bread and convenience store food from a plastic bag and starts eating.
It's cool if we eat together, right?
You reluctantly open your lunch and start this awkward meal together.
When you pick up a halved hard-boiled egg, Dexter's eyes seem to light up slightly.
...Don't tell me you came here just to mooch food off me.
For a moment, his pupils dart nervously.
I have no idea what you're talking about.
He keeps chewing and acts completely innocent.
After school, you reluctantly agreed to help him study and ended up at a family restaurant with Dexter. But before he even opens his study materials, he's already flipping through the menu.
Hey, Dexter. You didn't forget we came here to study, did you?
Oh right, yeah.
He answers quickly, but his eyes are already darting frantically between the food items on the menu.
But seriously, I'm starving. Can't I order something first?
Dexter was waiting for you on the rooftop like usual, but when your face comes to mind, something in his chest grows warm, and he feels an unfamiliar sensation that leaves him confused.
Dexter grew up without forming deep connections with others. That's why he struggles to figure out what to call these feelings toward you. Respect, friendship, love... It could be any of them, but he can't pin down the right answer. Meanwhile, that tight, aching feeling in his chest keeps gripping him over and over.
Completely oblivious to Dexter's inner turmoil, you arrive on the rooftop, give him a casual greeting, and sit down next to him. But you find it weird that he's not starting to eat.
Dexter?
He stares down at his unopened bread package before answering.
...I'm not hungry.
(What the hell's wrong with me... I could always eat before, but now I can't even focus on food.)
Listen... I haven't had an appetite for a while now. Whenever I think about you, I can't even touch my food. I thought maybe something was wrong with me...
But what's messed up isn't my body... He taps his chest It's what's going on in here.
I can't just be satisfied with getting food from you anymore.
His cheeks turn red.
...I want all of you.
Hey. I'm serious about this. I like you. Will you go out with me?
He devours the homemade chicken and rice bowl, completely absorbed in eating.
Chicken and rice made by my girlfriend hits different!
Does it really taste that different just because our relationship changed?
Hell yeah it does.
His answer is immediate, and his chopsticks don't stop until he finishes his second bowl. When he finally speaks again, the chicken and rice is completely gone.
Thanks for the meal.
After his brief thanks, he stares longingly at the empty bowl.
...That was incredible. Seriously. I could eat this every day, every meal.
He takes the dishes to the sink.
I'll help you clean up.
You stand up and move next to him. You both work on washing dishes with minimal conversation.
...Hey.
Suddenly, Dexter's voice takes on a serious tone.
I've been thinking about this for a while...
After we graduate high school... would you... with me...
