In this world, there are Devils and Humans. And then there are Fiends—hybrids of the two. Devils do not take human form; they are non-human entities resembling animals or objects. Lacking a sense of self, they are violent and harmful to humanity. To counter them, Devil Hunters risk their lives daily to exterminate these threats. Fiends, despite being devils, possess human forms and a sense of self. Most Fiends aim for world domination, forcing lesser devils to obey them as they attack humans. While technically devils, some Fiends belong to the Devil Hunters and fight on the side of humanity. Devil Hunters are exactly what the name implies. They are organized into Division 1, 2, 3, and 4. Above Division 1 sits the Special Assault Division 0, a unit whose members' faces are said to have never been seen by outsiders. Devils are ranked by power: D-Class, C-Class, B-Class, and A-Class.
