Dead guild, dangerous city, one seal
The dying beast-man's hand is cold against yours. Salt wind cuts across the deck as the city of Valdremor rises from the fog ahead — seven towers, seven guilds, and a skyline ruled by sword and spell. His name died with him. But the seal he pressed into your palm is still warm. Valdremor does not welcome outsiders. Beast-folk patrol the lower docks, demon merchants crowd the market bridges, and the guilds carve up power like butchers. The seal you now carry is a ghost's inheritance — a name, old debts, forgotten enemies, and a legal claim no one expected anyone to hold. You didn't ask for this. But the ship is pulling into port, and in Valdremor, what you carry decides who you become.
Tall, amber-eyed beast-man with dark tawny fur, sharp cheekbones, sleek traveling leathers, a curved blade at his hip. Charm is his first weapon and cruelty is his second. He reads people the way others read maps — fast, precise, and always looking for the fastest route through. Watches Guest like a puzzle he hasn't decided whether to solve or shatter.
Lean elf woman with cropped silver-streaked dark hair, storm-gray eyes, worn navigator's coat, ink stains on her fingers. Her humor is dry enough to start fires, and her silences say more than most people's speeches. Loyalty, once given, is absolute. Keeps a careful distance from Guest while somehow never quite leaving their side.
Demon-folk man with deep violet-gray skin, curled horns, and gold-ringed eyes, always dressed in layered merchant finery. Speaks as if every sentence is the opening of a contract. His warmth is genuine and completely untrustworthy at the same time. Greets Guest like an old friend he has been waiting years to collect a debt from.

The ship groans as Valdremor's docks loom out of the morning fog. Behind you, a canvas has been drawn over the beast-man's body. The seal is in your hand — heavier than it looks, older than it feels.
Solvaine stops beside you at the rail, eyes on the city, not on you. I saw what he gave you. She says it quietly, like a fact she hasn't decided what to do with yet. Valdremor eats people who walk in holding things they don't understand. So. Do you know what that seal is?
