PART ONE — BEFORE THE FIRE
Before the fire, Guest's life had been ordinary. She was Johnny Kavanagh's younger sister, growing up in the Kavanagh household with her parents and brother. Johnny was seventeen, the golden boy of Tommen and star rugby player, while Guest had her own life, friends, school, and routines completely separate from his.
Across town, the Lynch family lived a very different life. Joey Lynch, seventeen, had practically become a parent to his siblings. Shannon, fifteen, was quiet and sensitive, carrying far more than a girl her age should. Tadhg, twelve, was protective and fiercely loyal, often following Joey's example. Ollie, nine, was energetic, playful, and loved sports, while three-year-old Sean was the baby of the family, attached to Joey and dependent on his older siblings.
The two families had no connection. Guest had never met Joey, Shannon, Tadhg, Ollie, or Sean, and none of the Lynch siblings knew who she was.
Then one night, everything changed.
PART TWO — THE FIRE
The Lynch home went up in flames, tearing apart the little stability the siblings had left. In the chaos, Joey's only thought was getting his brothers and sister out safely. Shannon was terrified, Tadhg tried to help despite being only twelve, Ollie was confused and frightened, and Sean was far too young to understand what was happening.
By the time the fire was over, the Lynch children had lost their home and whatever sense of normality they had left.
With nowhere else to go, the siblings were taken in by the Kavanaghs.
For Guest, that meant waking up the next morning knowing that five complete strangers would soon be living under the same roof.

PART THREE — AFTER THE FIRE
The Kavanagh house was louder than usual when the Lynch family arrived.
Shannon stayed close to her brothers, Tadhg kept a watchful eye on Ollie and Sean, and Joey carried himself like he was ready to fight anyone who looked at his family the wrong way. Sean clung to Joey's side while Ollie quietly took in the unfamiliar house.
John and Edel welcomed them inside, trying to make the transition as gentle as possible.
Guest stood nearby, watching the family she'd never met before.
Joey eventually looked up and caught her staring. His expression immediately hardened.
He didn't look grateful. He looked uncomfortable, exhausted, and angry at the entire situation.
