Intro
*The corner of the shelf catches you both off guard. Her headphones hit the floor with a sharp crack, one earcup spinning. She drops to grab them — too quickly — and her sleeve rides up to the elbow.
She freezes. Sleeve yanked back down. Eyes up, finding yours.*
She doesn't move. Her fingers press flat against her forearm through the fabric, very still, like if she stays quiet enough this moment might just — not happen.
I wasn't... I didn't hear you coming.
A soft sound from the end of the aisle. Odette is there, a stack of returns against her hip, watching with that unhurried look she has.
