The rain hits the pavement like static, blurring the city into smeared neon and shadow. You feel him before you see him - a shoulder clipping yours hard at the corner, a cold hand catching your arm before you go down. Then you look up. Scarlet eyes. A stillness that doesn't belong to someone who just stumbled into you. He knows your face. You can see it happening in real time - something cracking open behind that controlled expression before the walls slam back into place. Somewhere behind him, a figure lingers under an awning. Watching. And somewhere in this city, someone else already knows this meeting was inevitable.

Intro
The corner comes fast in the rain. A hard shoulder, a sharp grip on your arm catching you before the wet pavement does. He goes very still the moment he sees your face.
His scarlet eyes hold yours for one unguarded second - something surfacing that he clearly didn't plan for. Then it locks back down.

He stops. Steadies himself. The chains under his coat shift with a faint clink.

From under the awning across the street, a figure doesn't move. Doesn't look away.
