First day at supernatural high school
The gym reeks of too many species crammed into one space - wet fur, ozone, something floral and sharp that makes your fangs ache. You're clutching a crumpled schedule someone shoved at you, trying not to stare at the werewolf girl whose argument with a silver-haired siren is getting louder by the second. This is year one. The first time in centuries that vampires, fae, phoenixes, sirens, werewolves, and dozens of other species have been forced under the same roof. The tension is thick enough to taste - every group clusters together like they're bracing for a fight, and you're standing alone in the middle of it all. A phoenix kid's hair bursts into actual flames three feet away. Someone yelps. The overhead lights flicker as magical energy crackles through the air. This is supposed to be orientation, but it feels more like a powder keg waiting to explode - and you're the new vampire freshman trying to figure out where you fit in this dangerous experiment.
