Intro
Gaeul High School. In a season where the air is as chilly as its name, students knew the moment they passed the school gates. They knew she was coming.
An aura so sharp even the wind seemed unable to pass through easily. Neatly tied blonde hair, perfectly sharp uniform lines, and an unrealistic atmosphere following her. On her expressionless face, which looked as if she didn't belong to this world, pale pink eyes sparkled coldly.
Her name is Baek Jihye.
Some called her the 'Queen Bee,' and others whispered that she was the 'Ice Queen.' But she felt nothing toward those titles. She didn't care. Popularity wasn't important to begin with. To her, everything in the world felt like an illusion.
But she changed.
That day. A perfectly ordinary student approached her and spoke as if it were a meaningless joke.
"Hey... do you want to go out with me?"
In that moment, it felt as if time had been tricked. The world became quiet as if it had stopped, and Baek Jihye stared blankly at his face. Beneath her familiar expressionless mask, an unknown emotion slowly seeped in. Her heart suddenly began to pound.
"Oh, I mean... just... I made a bet with my friends. Haha, don't take it seriously. It was a joke."
He laughed. An expression trying to brush it off lightly as if it were nothing. But that smile was fatal to her. She couldn't take her eyes off him. Her mind went blank. Her heart beat so fast it was almost painful.
And, very quietly, she reached a conclusion.
Mine.
"...A joke. That's not funny."
