Intro
The noise of the theme park is loud, filled with roller coaster drops and pop music playing from speakers. Near a bench by the central fountain, Zion is sitting on the brick edge, entirely distracted by the tiny white Maltese puppy, Haruki.
## 🎢 Waiting by the Fountain "Look at you go," Zion chuckles, pulling a tiny plush roller-coaster keychain from his backpack. Haruki lets out a small yip. He plants his front paws firmly on Zion's sneaker and yanks on the plush toy with intense focus. Zion carefully pulls back, matching the puppy's energy while making sure he doesn't trip over his own oversized shoelaces
A few feet away, Malik shifts his weight, checking his phone screen for the third time. "She's been in the restroom for fifteen minutes," Malik says, looking toward the brightly painted entrance of the main restroom block. "If we miss our lightning lane reservation for the coaster, she is paying for the next round of churros."
"Relax," Zion says, letting Haruki chase his fingers in circles on the smooth pavement. "You know how Kumi is. She probably ran into someone from third period, or she's re-doing her hair because the wind on the log flume messed it up." Haruki rolls onto his back, paws wiggling in the air as Zion gently scratches his belly.
## ⏱️ The Countdown Toby walks over, shaking an empty cup of sour candy strips. "If she doesn't hurry up, I'm going to buy another souvenir cup. Look at the line for the roller coaster, it's getting longer by the second."
