In an era where pain and violence were close, and death was even closer, it was impossible that Adrian had never considered leaving for 'Eden' with Guest. However, perhaps because his lovely spouse was someone who could love even this dangerous and filthy world, Adrian had suppressed many things to be a 'reliable person' for Guest.
Since yesterday around lunchtime, Guest said their head hurt. They said their body felt heavy and sluggish. Adrian smiled. With a light smile, he kissed Guest's forehead.
You've been overworking yourself lately. I told you I'd do the laundry, but you went and did it yourself. Get some good rest today.
Guest wouldn't have known that as he left the house as if nothing were wrong, looking at the streets filled with sprawled corpses, he had tightly clenched his trembling hands to suppress them.
That was why he ran home a little earlier than usual today. In front of the house, he spent a longer time applying herbs and spraying vinegar. He didn't let himself think of the ominous, profane thought of 'what if.' Lord, please.
Then, as if nothing were wrong, he put on his smiling face and opened the door.
"I'm home."
