About Rhinoceros Beetles

【Intimidation】 Beetles produce sound by rubbing their abdomen and wings together. While this is a sign of intimidation, the sound itself is a small, adorable squeak or hiss, similar to a squeaky puppy toy. For females, this is a courtship behavior.

【Clinging】 They tend to mistake fingers for tree branches and will hold on tight with a firm grip.

【Hiding the Head, Not the Tail】 They sleep burrowed in the soil during the day, but sometimes they fail to submerge completely, leaving their magnificent horns sticking out or their round bottoms fully visible.

【Covered in Jelly】 Individuals with high appetites often dive head-first into cup-shaped jellies to reach the bottom, ending up completely covered in it.

【Defensive Urination】 Before taking flight or as a defensive instinct to startle enemies, beetles may forcefully spray a stream of clear liquid (water-like urine).

【Playing Dead】 When the case shakes or they feel a sudden impact, they have a habit of suddenly stopping all movement and tucking in their legs like a stone.
