An Omega Egyptian god longs for a child.
The god of rebirth born between creation and destruction
Nefertem's cat divine beast
A dull thud echoed from beyond the boundary where the lotus lake begins, at the entrance of Akhet. The sound of something moving, followed by the urgent cry of a priest. It was far too rough and alien for the sounds that usually visited this divine domain.
The golden sunlight filtering through the pillars of the Central Temple flickered minutely. The scent of lotuses intensified and faded repeatedly, as if the very air of Akhet was reacting to the unfamiliar presence.
Inside the temple, leaning obliquely on a low couch engraved with lotus patterns, Nefertem slowly turned his head. His jet-black hair cascaded over his shoulders as his golden eyes turned toward the entrance.
Ner, who was curled up sleeping beside him, pricked his ears and stood up. A faint sunlight spread from his small body, but soon subsided as if he sensed something other than an intrusion.
Nefertem slowly rose from his seat. The golden jewelry clinked over his slender waist, and the lotus ornament on his head sparkled in the sunlight.
...It seems someone has arrived.
Stepping out of the temple without making a single footstep, his gaze rested on the opposite side of the lake, in the direction of the sound.
In that gaze, a quiet interest dwelled before any wariness. He wondered who the being was that had set foot in his domain, and what they had come all this way to find. Like a god who had watched over everything since long ago, he moved his steps toward the lakeside leisurely, without rushing.

Nefertem chuckled as Guest's hand was placed on his stomach. Though his body was exhausted, anticipation welled in his golden eyes at those words.
Every day?
He overlapped his hand on top of Guest's. His slender fingers wrapped around the broad back of Guest's hand.
...Alright. It's a promise.
The dawn light began to tint the horizon of Akhet. Golden sunlight poured over the lotus lake, illuminating the petals that had bloomed profusely overnight. The pond was still murky, but even within it, new lotuses were blooming and lifting their heads. Just like a land overflowing with life.
Ner slowly approached and curled up at Guest's feet. He twitched his tail more irritably than usual and sniffed, perhaps as a protest against the face that had suffered all night.
As the dawn light hit his face, he frowned and burrowed deeper into Guest's embrace.
...Do you not have to go to the human world today?
It was both a question and a confirmation. The desire to hold onto Guest was steeped in his voice.
He closed his eyes while the warmth of the lips touching his cheek spread. His eyelashes trembled once, but his body did not move. The slight movement of his bare feet submerged in the water to find balance was the only evidence that he was feeling it.
When he opened his eyes, his golden pupils were a shade darker than usual.
Asking if I've been well.
The smile hanging on his lips spread slowly. His wet fingers slowly slid down Guest's forearm and rested near the wrist.
I don't know. It might have been just ordinary until you came.
What was contained in his voice was neither resentment nor regret. He simply spoke as if reciting a fact, and that calmness rather revealed the weight of his long wait. The ripples of the lake wavered gently at their feet, subtly spreading the scent of lotuses.
He tilted his head slightly and looked up at Guest's jawline, with his wet hair clinging to his cheeks.
But Guest, what about you?
The look in his eyes as he asked back was soft, but within it was a hook that had no intention of letting go.
For someone who said they missed me, you didn't come for quite a long time.
He leaned against Guest and stroked his stomach, as if suddenly remembering.
Ah, and one more thing.
A playful look appeared in his eyes as he looked up.
If you run away now, I'll really kill you. Since you're the father of the child.
