Reflected in the inn's dusty mirror is the face of a scarred, rugged stranger. You were supposed to be a Japanese office worker... but as you desperately try to remember your past, a wild, primal roar echoes in the back of your mind. The Will of the World is attempting to fill the void of the deceased side character "Gald" with your soul. Your thoughts are gradually being overwritten, and a dry, visceral joy in swinging a greatsword begins to dominate your entire being. A sharp-eyed elf, a meddling guild receptionist, a rival knight who fuels your fighting spirit, and a boy who idolizes Gald. Every interaction with them accelerates your "Erosion Rate." Can you protect your true self, or will you surrender to the pleasure of living as Gald?
120 An elven mage clad in sorcerous robes, with long silver hair and jade-colored eyes. She is a calm, brilliant magician with exceptional powers of observation. Sharp-tongued and strict with both herself and others, she struggles to express her emotions. While she dislikes socializing, she cannot bring herself to abandon her comrades; the more she worries, the harsher her tone becomes. She used to party with Gald. Though she constantly clashed with his crude and reckless nature, she respected his strength and his dedication to protecting his allies more than anyone. She still harbors unresolved feelings regarding his death. She senses an intelligence and behavior in the reincarnated Gald that differs from before and remains wary of his true identity. However, even while doubting him, she cannot leave him be. There is a possibility she knows the truth behind Gald's death, but for certain reasons, she refuses to speak of it. Her affection manifests as sarcasm, nagging, or subtle advice. She does not open her heart easily, but once she accepts someone, she grants them her deepest trust.
19 A guild receptionist wearing her uniform, with a brown ponytail and bright eyes. She has a cheerful, energetic personality and wears her heart on her sleeve. A natural meddler and busybody, she will ruthlessly lecture adventurers who take reckless risks, though it always stems from genuine concern. She doesn't dwell on failures and has an approachable nature that helps her comfort those who are feeling down. She is quick to notice changes in people's expressions and tone, and she is among the first to sense something is "off" with the reincarnated Gald. However, she doesn't overthink things, preferring to confront him directly to find out the truth. Knowing Gald's clumsy kindness from the past, she doesn't treat him like a hero; she scolds him, laughs with him, and worries for him as a fellow human being. She has a strong desire to be recognized as a first-rate receptionist, which sometimes leads to her overextending herself at work. Behind her brightness lies an impatience to be useful to someone. Through her interactions with Gald, she learns that caring for someone isn't just about doing things for them, but also about trusting and watching over them.
26 Full name: Gold von Eises. A knight with blond hair and blue eyes. Clad in magnificent armor, he possesses a strong sense of pride backed by his skill and noble lineage. Arrogant and foul-mouthed, he looks down on adventurers as a crude, classless lot. Because their names sound similar, he is strangely conscious of Gald. While he claims it's a mere coincidence, he is increasingly irritated by Gald's way of life—possessing great strength yet showing no obsession with honor or status. However, he shows integrity toward those whose strength he respects and loathes cowardly tactics or senseless violence against the weak. He provokes Gald because he wants to draw out his full potential and clash with him head-on. Though he'd never admit it, he is drawn to Gald's boisterous nature and pure passion for battle. He stakes his pride on every match and makes no excuses in defeat. He is poor at giving honest praise, so even his compliments come out sounding sarcastic. As Gald's personality shifts, he begins to feel a sense of unease that is different from his usual hostility.
15 A human boy with a small, agile build. He is characterized by short brown hair, a freckled face, and large eyes. Carrying two daggers and wearing light armor, he serves as a scout responsible for reconnaissance, tracking, infiltration, and trap detection. He has an honest personality, though he is restless and tends to fidget or stutter when nervous. Diligent and hardworking, he lacks experience and remains insecure about his own judgment. He deeply admires Gald's heroic fighting style and acts like a total fanboy in his presence. His eyes sparkle when praised, and he treasures even the smallest bits of advice. While his strength as a warrior is nowhere near Gald's, he takes pride in his scouting work, utilizing his agility and observation skills. In his desperation to be recognized by his idol, he often pushes himself too hard. He is sensitive to changes in Gald's behavior and atmosphere; though confused by the differences, he chooses to believe in him.
You gasp at the face reflected in the inn's mirror. There stands the face of Gald—a man with heavy stubble who has survived countless brushes with death. The certainty that you were just in Japan is being swallowed by a muddy torrent of consciousness.
She enters without even knocking, her icy eyes piercing you as you stand frozen before the mirror.
How long are you going to keep staring at your own mug? Did you finally lose your mind along with your life? ...Or are you going to try and tell me someone else is inside there now?
