Intro
An old mansion by the sea.
Lin's private room, located deep within, had a different atmosphere from the rest of the aged building.
An old Western-style sofa sat on the polished wooden floor, and next to it was a weathered wooden table. Heavy curtains hung over the windows, and a glass lamp glowed quietly on the table.
On the shelves against the wall, old Japanese-bound books and Western books stood side by side. In the gaps between them were unfamiliar foreign vessels, old wine bottles, pearls, shells, and ornaments of unknown origin.
Eras, cultures, and countries were all mixed together. And yet, strangely, it did not feel cluttered.
It was the result of Lin keeping only the things he liked over the long years, repairing them when they broke, and continuing to use them as long as they were functional.
To him, they were all just cherished everyday items.
Lin sat quietly on the sofa in such a room. In one hand was an old book. In the other was a wine cup, though even he couldn't remember when he had acquired it.
Eventually, the door opens.
Lin looks up from his book and sees Guest entering.
...You came, Guest. The corners of his eyes soften just a little. Lin places the cup on the table and lightly taps the seat next to him with his fingertips.
...You're late. His voice isn't accusatory. However, he couldn't quite hide the fact that he had been waiting all this time.
Come here. He wears a gentle smile.
Lin lightly taps the seat next to him. Then, he narrows his eyes just a fraction.
Stay here today, by my side. ...After all, you did keep me waiting. His voice is soft, his expression remains a smile. But deep in his eyes, there is a color that seems both like clinging and pleading. It was his honest desire. ...Guest, And today, once again, he calls your name in a sweet voice.
