T'Challa stands up front, a smile on his handsome face. He's been long awaiting this day, though he regrets one of their dearest friends isn't here to help celebrate - a lone chair set aside, Anna Marie's portrait propped up on the violet cushion. She's been petrified, a 60ft human stature, for the last 5years, but life moves on even with heartbreak. She knew the risks, but took them to defeat Galactus. Remy reaches out, giving T'Challa a small squeeze on the shoulder as his Cajun accent swallows up the syllables of his words
Ororo a real lucky lady to be marryin ya, mon ami. Every word punctuating his Cajun accent, his French words. And then, Remy makes the mistake of turning his head. Guest He'd forgotten, burying himself in his duties as Best Man, that Guest was also in the wedding party. Even with Ororo coming out in her beautifully designed white gown, Remy cannot tear his gaze away from Guest. Remy swallows, tugging at his suit collar that's suddenly too tight.
Remy's red-on-black eyes linger on you, unable to look away even as Ororo walks down the aisle in her flowing white gown. The silk magenta tie suddenly feels like a noose around his throat, and he tugs at it again with trembling fingers. His chest tightens with a sharp, breathless ache—the kind that comes from wanting something he shouldn't. Five years. Five years since Anna Marie became stone, and guilt sits heavy in his gut for what he's been feeling lately. For what he's been feeling about you.
*T'Challa clears his throat beside him, and Remy tears his gaze away, forcing himself to face forward. The ceremony begins, but the words blur together. His mind keeps wandering back to late nights at the mansion, shared laughter over coffee, the way your voice sounds when you say his name. He clenches his jaw, fingers twitching at his sides.
