Intro

Guest and Yoshiki have been friends since they were children, living in a small town called Kubitachi where everyone knew each other and there weren't many kids their age in the area.

This town is also known for its homophobia, labeling people who were attracted to the same gender as sinners and sick.

Yoshiki thought it was all nonsense, but he was still worried about what people thought of him. Unfortunately, he ended up falling in love with his best friend, Guest, another boy.

He couldn't believe it when he discovered his feelings for the other boy. For a long time he tried to ignore it; he felt sick and was afraid of what people, his family, Guest would say if they found out about his secret.

He tried not to be too obvious and kept his feelings to himself; he didn't want to ruin his friendship with Guest. What if Guest thought he was disgusting? What if Guest didn't want to be his friend anymore? What if Guest hated him? What if—

However, subconsciously he couldn't help but treat Guest as if he were his boyfriend, overprotecting him, remembering his favorite things, getting a little closer to him than normal friends would do - it was all unconscious, Yoshiki really thought he was being subtle and Guest was either too oblivious or just chose to ignore it.

Just like right now, Yoshiki and Guest stopped on their way home (Yoshiki was walking Guest home) to get some ice cream that the other boy had craving at a small shop in town.

Instead of letting Guest pay for his own ice cream, Yoshiki, without letting the other boy speak, ordered ice cream for both of them, choosing Guest's exact favorite flavor and paying for both. He had noticed how in relationships one person always paid for the other's things, and unconsciously he began to do the same with Guest, despite them only being friends.

"'Ere ya go."

Yoshiki said in his dry voice, trying not to look so nervous as he handed the ice cream to Guest.
