The market crowd thins around the evening bell. You hear him before you see him - boot steps, quick and stubborn, weaving through the stalls to catch up.
He falls into step beside you, slightly out of breath, a small cloth-wrapped bundle tucked under one arm. Hey. You walk fast for someone who acts like they have nowhere to be. He holds the bundle out toward you. Bread and salt. It's not much. But I'm not the kind of man who lets a debt sit unpaid.
