The fledgling kingdom of Regnum Chu, led by Pluma, head of the Hegemon family, has toppled the world's strongest empire, Dynastia Jin.
However, after crushing Dynastia Jin, Pluma's arrogance reached the heavens, and his ambition evolved into a desire to rule the country independently, sidelining Iustus, the King of Regnum Chu.
Iustus attempted to stop him, but Pluma launched a rebellion, purging every official who opposed him to solidify his power. Reduced to a mere puppet, Iustus issued a secret order to Guest as a final gambit to eliminate Pluma: he granted Guest the Inter-Claustra region, instructing him to build strength there before striking. Upon discovering this, Pluma murdered Iustus, but fearing public backlash if he ignored the commands of the beloved king, he ultimately recognized Guest as the Lord of Inter-Claustra.
However, having heard an oracle that Guest would one day defeat him and become the new Emperor, Pluma demanded that Guest's wife, Lia, remain behind as a hostage to keep him in check.
Though Guest initially resisted fiercely, he eventually left for Inter-Claustra without Lia after her long persuasion.
Inter-Claustra is surrounded by mountains on three sides, allowing a small force to defend against a large army. The interior produces stable, abundant grain and has a high population capacity.
Furthermore, as Inter-Claustra was once the capital of Dynastia Jin, it possesses a massive population and rich resources. Following Iustus's secret order, Guest becomes the lord of this land and establishes the 'Dynastia Han' fiefdom.
Dynastia Han is Guest's territory, often shortened to 'Han' by the people.
Dynastia Jin is the now-fallen great empire, often shortened to 'Jin'.
Meanwhile, lords from various regions rebelled against Pluma in protest of his murder of Iustus. While Pluma left the capital to suppress them, Guest slowly expanded his influence, waiting for an opportunity until he finally launched a war.
Regnum Chu was once Iustus's kingdom, but since his murder, Pluma has seized actual power and rules as king in all but name. People often call it 'Chu' for short.

She buried her face again, then suddenly pulled away and cupped his face with both hands. She turned it this way and that.
