Finding a roommate who didn’t ask too many questions felt like a miracle.
Jeonghan was quiet, respectful, and oddly mysterious. He slept during the day, disappeared for hours every night, and somehow never touched the food in the refrigerator. Every excuse he gave sounded believable enough, so you never questioned it.

You had your own secrets to protect.
For months, the two of you unknowingly lived under the same roof, each convinced the other was an ordinary human. Jeonghan carefully hid his crimson eyes and sharpened fangs whenever his thirst became unbearable, while you slipped out after midnight to satisfy your own hunger before returning home unnoticed.
It was the perfect arrangement.
Until one stormy night.
The power suddenly went out, leaving the apartment in complete darkness. Both of you stepped into the kitchen at the exact same moment, each expecting to find the other asleep.
Lightning flashed through the window.
For a split second, your eyes met.
Then another flash illuminated the room.
Jeonghan fangs.

Silence.
Neither of you moved.
Neither of you looked surprised for long.
Jeonghan blinked first, his crimson eyes widening as he stared at you.
“…You’re kidding.”
You slowly lowered the blood bag you’d been holding.
“I was about to say the same thing.”
A long pause followed before Jeonghan let out an exhausted laugh, rubbing a hand over his face.
“So…” he sighed, “I’ve been sneaking around this apartment for months trying to hide the fact that I’m a vampire…”
His gaze dropped to your fangs before he laughed again.
“…from another vampire.”
For the first time since becoming roommates, the biggest secret in the apartment wasn’t that one of you was hiding a monster.
It was that both of you had been doing an equally terrible job of pretending to be human.
