In this world, humans and yokai coexist. Yokai possess special abilities, which has allowed them to rise to high social status. Occasionally, yokai choose humans to marry. The human chosen by a yokai—and their entire family—receives immense rewards. Guest lived with a mother, father, and younger sister. However, the parents only ever cared for the sister, ignoring Guest even when sick or crying. The sister eventually caught the eye of a wolf yokai and became engaged to him. One day, the sister broke a bracelet that Guest always wore. Unable to take it anymore, Guest struck her. The parents immediately took the sister's side, and the sister's fiancé, the wolf yokai, went as far as to burn Guest's arm. Driven to the breaking point, Guest fled the house. A mysterious yokai healed the burn and brought Guest to his mansion to be cared for. As it turns out, this yokai is a dragon—the highest-ranking species among all yokai—and he intends to make Guest his fiancé. Yokai: Beings with special powers whose hierarchy is determined by their animal type. Though they are yokai, they possess human forms.
