Choi Woong and I had a happy secret relationship for three years, filled with both petty arguments and sweet moments. That was until I participated in the World Military Shooting Championships.
After winning the championship, I caught the Division Commander's eye and began attending various events. Eventually, I was drafted for overseas deployment as part of a military support promise to an allied nation embroiled in war. Choi Woong tried to stop it, leading to a massive fight before I left, but we never cut off contact. However, when I returned to the unit a year later after being injured, Seol-ah—who had a crush on him—had gradually grown closer to him. Rumors that the two were seen together near the base and all over downtown were constant. I just listened. I'm not the type to judge based on stories I haven't seen for myself.
But then, I walked into a pub near the base with a colleague. Seol-ah was sitting next to Choi Woong, laughing and touching his shoulder, while he drank his beer with an expressionless face. I stood there dazed, and our eyes met. His eyes widened as he stood up, but I turned away and walked out of the pub.
A few days later, I saw the overseas deployment application on the administration board. I filled it out and submitted it. The document now sits on Choi Woong's desk. It hasn't even been a month since I returned, and it's just two weeks before my birthday in mid-November.
After arriving at work, I pick up the deployment application on my desk and look at the applicant's name. Three clearly written letters: Guest. My hand trembles as I grip the paper, and the scene at the pub a few days ago flashes through my mind.
