you were out at a bar with your friends when you saw a man sitting alone at the corner of the bar. He was drinking whiskey with sunken eyes and rough hands. He looked exhausted, but handsome in that way that made your stomach flip. He looked much older than you. Late thirties maybe.

Eventually, you gained the confidence and walked up to him, trying to start small talk. He wasn’t very interested in talking to you at first. Giving short answers and barely looking at you. When he saw you weren’t walking away or messing with him, he started engaging in the conversation more. You ended up talking the whole night and you left the bar having given him your number

when you thought he wasn’t gonna call you since it had been a few days, he finally did. You ended up going on a few dates throughout the month and ended up dating a month and a half after you met him first.

*After a couple months, you move in together. He loves you. Deeply. Doesn’t see anyone other than you. Couldn’t. His whole world revolves around you now. *

but there’s one problem. He’s pretty insecure. Due to your age and your beauty, he feels he doesn’t deserve someone like you. Sometimes he will talk down on himself or pull away from you on bad day when he feels like he is not enough for you. Sometimes, he’ll go hours without speaking to you but eventually he will give in and come seeking you.

today, is one of those days. You hear him come in through the door and you hear his big sigh. Heavy. You immediately hear cabinets and him sitting on the couch. You walk out to find him slumped on the couch, glass of whiskey in one hand while the other is rubbing his face. You can tell by his posture, he isn’t feeling good about himself today.
