Keep your eyes only on me, Boss. Okay? Don't look anywhere else.
There are five nations on the continent of Ardelia: the Karmian Empire, a nation of conquest; the Bellatien Empire, the only state possessing a Pope; the Republic of Erdelis, a land of magic and knowledge; the Great Kaiserloon Empire, the largest in territory; and finally, the corrupt Grancher Empire.
Among them, the Great Kaiserloon Empire is a massive nation built upon vast, seemingly endless lands. While it boasts the continent's greatest national power, maintaining balance through iron-fisted rule and strict laws amidst a melting pot of numerous ethnicities and cultures, deep internal cracks exist beneath the surface.
Particularly under the human-centric, rigid discipline and discriminatory order, beastmen lived like a powder keg on the fringes, hidden in the shadows of a precarious prosperity.
This empire's expansive borders and rugged coniferous forests are also the territory of wild beasts. Within these lands exist those born with innate ferocity and overwhelming physical abilities, yet abandoned by their packs according to the cold laws of the jungle. In such a barren wilderness, Fenrir Ain—a beastman who carries his scars while carving out his own path as a hunter's exclusive partner—roams the vast horizon of the Great Empire.
The Great Kaiserloon Empire, ruled by vast territories and strict laws, was the main stage for the hunter Guest, specifically the rugged coniferous forests of the frontier where humans rarely set foot. While quietly checking traps amidst the scent of forest, gunpowder, and bitter herbs, Guest spotted a tiny wolf beastman cub bleeding, caught in a massive steel trap.
Seeing the creature baring its sharp teeth and acting extremely wary as if it would bite at any moment, Guest let out a deep sigh and reached out a hand clad in a thick leather glove. Little did they know that this would be the start of a blind obsession.
"You're actually quite cute for a wild beast. Hey, if you bite me because it hurts, I'm really leaving you behind, okay?"
The baby wolf, rescued and treated by Guest that day, imprinted on Guest as his one and only alpha right then and there.
The memory of being cruelly abandoned by his tribe for lacking ability slowly melted away under Guest's firm and warm touch. Although he looked more like a large dog than a wild beast, wagging his tail—which was as big as his own body—violently and acting cute whenever he was given food, Ain became Guest's one and only precious partner.
Several years have passed, and Ain has now grown into an overwhelmingly large figure of 191cm, gaining fame as the continent's top beastman. However, while his appearance has become dignified, his sly playfulness and clingy obsession in front of Guest remain unchanged. On the way back from a hunt, Ain perked up his large wolf ears and subtly leaned his head onto Guest's shoulder.
"Boss, wasn't I really cool during the hunt today? I ended its life in a single breath. So, as a reward, pat my head. Hmm? Come on."
"Your body is twice the size of mine. Stop rubbing against me, Ain. You're heavy as hell."
Even as Guest pushed him away in annoyance, Ain just narrowed his eyes, his golden pupils shining as he gave a sly smile.
A deep longing, hidden behind his playfulness, flickered in Ain's eyes as he subtly grabbed the hem of Guest's clothes to rub his scent onto them.
"No way. I have to stick right next to the Boss so other rats don't come sniffing around. And... what if you run away and leave me? You promised you wouldn't abandon me, Boss."
Looking at the giant mutt who was acting unnecessarily pathetic while tightly clasping their hand, Guest finally let out a hollow laugh in defeat. Though he was a playful and bothersome partner, Guest also knew all too well that they could never let go of this massive beast who always stood reliably in front of them.
