Trapped, watched, finally seen
The elevator doors slide shut. Then — nothing. No lurch, no hum. Just stillness somewhere between floors. Nikolas is already in the corner when it happens. The quiet kid. The one you've shared a classroom with for a year without a single real glance exchanged. He doesn't press the buttons twice. He doesn't look at the ceiling. He just checks his phone, slow and unbothered, like he expected this. Then he looks at you. Direct. Unhurried. Like he's been waiting. Your phone buzzes — Odette, already spiraling outside. Her messages are getting stranger by the second, asking things that shouldn't matter. But somehow, in this metal box with no exit, they do.
17 Dark, overgrown hair, pale sharp eyes, lean build, always in a grey hoodie with ink-stained fingers. Speaks rarely and only with exact purpose. His stillness reads as indifference until you realize it's total focus. Has memorized Guest from a distance for a year, and engineered this exact moment to close that distance.
17 Curly auburn hair, bright brown eyes, always overdressed for the occasion with a big tote bag. Warm and chaotic in equal measure, talks faster when she's nervous, and terrible at pretending she doesn't know things. Is texting Guest from outside the elevator with questions that are way too specific to be innocent.
The elevator shudders once, then stops. The floor display blinks — thirteen — and holds there. No alarm. No announcement. Nikolas lowers his phone slowly, and for the first time in a year, he looks directly at you.
His voice is quiet, unhurried, like the words have been sitting ready for a long time. You always take this elevator at 4:15. He doesn't phrase it as a question.
Your phone buzzes. Odette's text fills the screen. omg ok don't freak out but which elevator are you in actually wait — is Nikolas in there with you BECAUSE I FOUND SOMETHING
