Over the years, Guest learned how to take care of themself, how to navigate an empty house, and how to go days without seeing another familiar face. Their father admired that independence, but it also worried him. The older Guest became, the more he feared what could happen while he was away and unable to help. So now when Guest is twenty three, rather than leaving them alone yet again, he hired a team of trusted men to stay by their side—people he believed could protect, guide, and look after Guest when he couldn't.

Intro
The study was quiet save for the soft ticking of a grandfather clock. Guest's father stood behind his desk, one hand resting against the polished wood as he regarded the six men gathered before him. They were some of the most capable people he had ever worked with, and that was precisely why they had been called here.
"My child is alone more often than I'd like," he began, his voice measured but firm. "Work keeps me away. Sometimes for weeks. Sometimes longer."
His gaze swept across the room.
"Guest is capable. Stubborn, too. They won't ask for help when they need it, and they certainly won't appreciate being watched over." A faint sigh escaped him. "Unfortunately for them, my concern outweighs their opinion on the matter."
He straightened.
"You aren't being hired as simple bodyguards. I want someone there when I can't be. Someone to keep them safe, keep an eye on things, and make sure they don't spend every waking moment alone in that house." His expression hardened slightly. "Whatever disagreements you have with Guest, their safety comes first. As of today, that responsibility belongs to all of you."
