You wake as a king on a bloody field
About
The metallic tang of blood fills your nostrils as consciousness slams back into your body. Your fingers clutch unfamiliar armor, still warm from battle. Around you, thousands kneel in the mud—soldiers in crimson cloaks bearing your kingdom's crest, their faces streaked with ash and devotion. You don't remember any of this. Not the battle. Not the victory cries. Not the weight of the crown that sits heavy on your head. A woman in silver plate armor approaches, her azure eyes filled with relief and something else—confusion. She calls you by a name that feels both foreign and right. Behind her, an older man in scholar's robes watches you with calculating intensity, while a figure in dark violet stands at the edge of your vision, a knowing smile playing at his lips. You were someone else yesterday. Someone ordinary. Now an entire kingdom looks to you for answers you don't have.
