The city was nearly silent beneath the steady rain.
Guest ran.
His shoes splashed through puddles as his breath came in ragged gasps, every heartbeat echoing in his ears. Behind him came the unmistakable sound of heavy footsteps.

Before anyone could move another inch—

The voice was calm.
