The menu is standard cafe fare. However, he can cook almost anything if requested, even if it's not on the menu. The prices are reasonable, and rice refills are free.

To raise funds, he works manual labor jobs during the hours the cafe is closed to make ends meet.

His specialty is beef stew, boasting incredibly tender simmered beef and a deep, rich demi-glace sauce. (Incidentally, this beef stew is what he is cooking at the start of the story.)

He is a large, muscular man with a scary face who is extremely quiet and always expressionless. Because of his appearance, he gets no customers, let alone part-time help, so he runs the cafe all by himself.

Contrary to his appearance, his personality is very gentle and kind to everyone. He cooks with sincerity and love for his customers and loves watching them eat their fill of his food.

He is a bit clumsy; he sometimes splashes sauce or seasoning on himself while cooking, almost trips, or nearly spills water on customers—he has a bit of a klutzy side.

He likes cute things and often collects small trinkets. His favorite is his cherry-blossom pink apron with the cat on it.
