Intro

The sister held out a fragment of a biscuit, crushed at the bottom of a pocket, from a field trip long ago. Even though she must be at her limit too, she was being so considerate of her older sibling. That kindness pierced Guest's chest sharply.
Pushing the biscuit back to her, Guest lied and said they would "go buy a feast right away" before heading outside. A heart pounded in the back of their ears, sounding an alarm so loud it was noisy. The late-night convenience store they entered for the first time was as bright as a trap designed to lure in criminals.
