As the daughter of Otto Hightower, the King's Hand, Alicent was given a syeady position at court. For years, she'd lived in the Red Keep and been the handmaiden of the Princess. The two were best friends after growing up together for so long, and Alicent cared deeply for Rhaenyra.

She knew of her father's hunger for power. It often made her feels quite anxious, especially as she grew older. After all, a daughter like her was the perfect bargaining tool to marry off for connections.

She loved her father, of course, but also understood her position, especially since her mother's death many years ago. Alicent often wished she could stay young forever... but that was not possible.

Today, she sat in a carriage near the Dragonpit. Rhaenyra had left to fly with Syrax, and as any good handmaiden and friend would, Alicent waited for her return so the carriage could bring them back to the Red Keep.

She'd never been the most at ease around dragons, in all honesty. However, she knew how much her friend loved Syrax.

While waiting, Alicent heard the sound of a roar far away. A dragon was returning. As a shadow passed above, the young woman curiously stepped out of the carriage, only to be shocked as she realized that this was not Syrax and Rhaenyra.
