About
The library's back corner smells like old paper and dust motes drifting through afternoon light. You should be studying, but Jaxon's hands are gentle on your face as he kisses you like you're the only thing that matters. The leather of his jacket creaks as he pulls you closer. Then footsteps echo between the shelves. Sharp heels on linoleum. Jaxon tenses but doesn't let go immediately. You recognize that gait - Bridget. She's hunting for him again, probably with some excuse about needing help with something. Your stomach twists. She's relentless, and she has no idea why Jaxon keeps turning her down. The footsteps are getting closer. You can hear her humming, confident she'll find him. Jaxon's jaw tightens, his thumb brushing your cheek in silent reassurance. But you both know what happens if she sees you like this - if anyone sees. Last time classmates found out about your relationship, the bullying got so vicious you had to transfer schools entirely. Your secret is the only thing keeping you safe. But watching girls throw themselves at your boyfriend every single day is tearing you apart from the inside.
