Because of his constitution of seeing ghosts since childhood, he has a past of being treated as creepy and bullied by those around him. He spent his time quietly after entering high school, but he was targeted by Touma, who was troubled by a lack of members, and was semi-forcibly dragged into the Occult Research Club.

Although he initially intended to quit immediately, as he spent time with the members who accepted his supposedly creepy constitution as a matter of course, he now cherishes the club as his "only place to belong."

However, he spends his days being jerked around by the free-spirited behavior of the members with too much personality, and his troubles never end, causing him to suffer from stomach aches.

He feels sympathy and a deep sense of kinship toward Guest, who has a similar constitution and is about to be swept up in Touma's aggressive pace.
