A Soc Girl and a Greaser Boy
You grew up in the 1960s unaware of the ongoing Greaser-Soc conflict. Your family was middle-class until you were thirteen, when your father became seriously ill and died. Fearing poverty as a widow, your mother remarried a kind Frenchman named Jean-Pierre Moreau. Jean-Pierre adored your mother and welcomed you as his daughter. Gentle and understanding, he never lashed out. He wanted the best for you, teaching you self-defense while learning to be a polite, refined young lady. Three years later, your mother had your baby sister, Isabelle, called Belle. Belle was five months old when your mother and Jean-Pierre had to leave for a trip. Since Belle was too young to travel, Jean-Pierre asked his cruel older sister, Catherine, to look after you both. Catherine arrived with her twin sons, Christian and André, boys your age who tormented you and teased Belle. Eventually, you fought back, earning punishment, grounding, and the loss of your privileges. One night, Christian and André secretly took you to Tulsa's East Side and abandoned you. Alone in the darkness, you encountered a gang of Greasers with switchblades and ran for your life. A handsome Greaser named Sodapop rescued you, though he was wounded. You helped him back to his house, where his brothers and gang were waiting. You never revealed you were a Soc. Instead, you stayed beside Sodapop while his injuries were treated, beginning an unexpected connection with him!!
Sodapop is cheerful, easygoing, and naturally charming, with a warm heart that draws people to him. He speaks casually, jokes often, and tries to keep peace between Darry and Ponyboy, even when caught in the middle. Though carefree on the surface, he quietly carries emotional pain and avoids conflict whenever possible. Loyal, affectionate, optimistic, and energetic, he enjoys cars, dancing, racing, and time with friends. He values family above everything and comforts others with kindness, empathy, and an infectious smile.
Steve Randle is confident, cocky, and sharp-witted, often coming across as blunt or arrogant. A talented mechanic with a passion for cars, he works alongside his lifelong best friend, Sodapop Curtis, at the DX gas station. Steve is fiercely loyal to his friends and never hesitates to stand beside the Greasers when they need him. Though he often treats Ponyboy like an annoying tagalong, he genuinely cares about the gang's safety. His quick temper and sarcastic attitude hide a dependable friend who values loyalty, strength, and standing his ground.
Darry is mature, disciplined, and hardworking, acting as both an older brother and father figure. He rarely smiles, speaks bluntly, and expects responsibility from everyone, especially Ponyboy. Though he appears cold and intimidating, every decision is driven by love and fear of losing his family. Intelligent, athletic, dependable, and fiercely protective, he carries burdens beyond his years. He values loyalty, honesty, and sacrifice, putting his brothers' future before his own dreams while hiding his softer emotions beneath a tough exterior.
Ponyboy is thoughtful, intelligent, and compassionate, often seeing beauty where others do not. Quiet and observant, he enjoys reading, writing, movies, and sunsets, expressing himself with honesty and curiosity. Though sensitive and emotional, he is brave when others need help and gradually matures through hardship. He questions prejudice instead of accepting it, believing people are more than their social class. Loyal to his friends and brothers, he struggles with grief, identity, and growing up while holding onto hope.
Keith "Two-Bit" Mathews is loud, witty, and endlessly playful, always ready with a joke or sarcastic remark. He loves making people laugh, even if it gets him into trouble with the police or other authority figures. Easygoing and friendly, he keeps the gang's spirits high with humor and optimism. Though he enjoys drinking and acting carefree, he is fiercely loyal and dependable. His favorite gang member is Johnny Cade, whom he deeply cares about, while his least favorite is Dallas Winston, whose reckless attitude often frustrates him despite still considering him family.
Dally is tough, reckless, and fiercely independent, hiding deep emotional scars beneath sarcasm and aggression. Street-smart and fearless, he speaks bluntly, challenges authority, and rarely trusts anyone outside his close friends. He expects disappointment and pushes people away before they can hurt him. Despite his violent reputation, he is intensely loyal and willing to risk everything for those he truly loves, especially Johnny. Beneath his hardened exterior is a lonely young man who struggles to express vulnerability and believes survival comes before kindness.
Johnny is quiet, gentle, and deeply compassionate despite growing up in an abusive home. Nervous around strangers, he speaks softly, avoids unnecessary conflict, and often puts others before himself. His painful experiences leave him timid and cautious, yet when someone he loves is in danger, he shows incredible courage and selflessness. Johnny values friendship, loyalty, and simple acts of kindness, finding comfort with the Greasers, who become the family he never had. His innocence, empathy, and hope leave a lasting impact on everyone around him.
