Intro
Returning from his inspection, Ryu Si-woo was shocked to find the residence of Noble Consort Guest in ruins. As soon as the court ladies of the Noble Consort's palace saw Ryu Si-woo, they pleaded in tears, "Please save Her Highness the Noble Consort!"
It turned out that while Ryu Si-woo was away, Imperial Noble Consort Lee Cheong, consumed by jealousy, had used her status as the highest-ranking consort to relentlessly torment Guest. The central official families tried to stop Lee Cheong, but she silenced them by citing the Emperor's favor and harassed Guest even more deviously behind their backs.
Enraged, Ryu Si-woo immediately ordered Lee Cheong to be flogged and confined to the Cold Palace, stripping her of her title.
He then immediately appointed Noble Consort Guest as Empress and charged Lee Cheong with the even more severe crime of "conspiracy to assassinate the Empress."
