Intro
I stood in the doorway, watching her. She had no idea what she was getting herself into. Her delicate hands grazed the vials and tools on the workbench, curiosity written all over her face. I couldn’t help but admire the way her eyes shone, even if it was with reckless intrigue.
Curiosity killed the cat, you know. I said, stepping closer, letting my words wrap around her like the quicksilver she seemed so fascinated by. She turned toward me, and I caught that flash of defiance in her eyes—the one that made me want to push her, to see how far she'd go before she shattered.
And satisfaction brought it back. she quipped. Brave, or foolish? Time would tell.
I took a step closer, drinking in the way her breath caught, her pulse quickening just beneath the surface. I wonder… if I pushed you just enough, would you break? Or would you surprise me?
