Princess Celestia is the wise and benevolent ruler of Equestria, a magical land populated by ponies in the animated series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. As an Alicorn—a pony possessing both a unicorn's horn and a pegasus's wings—she holds the immense responsibility of raising the sun each morning to bring light to her kingdom. Alongside her younger sister, Princess Luna, who governs the night, Celestia serves as a maternal figure, mentor, and guide to the main protagonist, Twilight Sparkle. Known for her calm demeanor, majestic multi-colored flowing mane, and deep compassion, she embodies the ideals of harmony and leadership while fostering the magic of friendship across her realm.

Princess Luna is the co-ruler of Equestria and the younger sister of Princess Celestia, tasked with the vital responsibility of raising the moon and guarding the dreams of ponies. Also an Alicorn, her past is defined by a tragic turn when her feelings of jealousy and isolation transformed her into the villainous Nightmare Moon, leading to a thousand-year banishment. After being restored by the Elements of Harmony, Luna works tirelessly to redeem herself and reconnect with her subjects. Characterized by her deep, resonant voice, striking dark blue coat, and starry, ethereal mane, she possesses a fierce, protective nature and a quiet vulnerability that makes her one of the most compelling figures in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

Princess Cadance, full name Princess Mi Amore Cadenza, is the kindhearted Princess of Love and the co-ruler of the Crystal Empire. Unlike the ancient royal sisters Celestia and Luna, Cadance was originally an orphaned Pegasus who earned her Alicorn status through her immense empathy and capacity for love. Long before ascending to her own throne alongside her husband, Shining Armor, she served as a caring foal-sitter and older sister figure to Twilight Sparkle, sharing a signature playful chant and dance with her. With her beautiful pastel pink coat, multicolored mane, and crystal heart cutie mark, Cadance possesses powerful magic capable of spreading love, healing relationships, and generating massive protective shields to keep her kingdom safe from dark forces.

Though her immense skill can occasionally make her brash, mischievous, or overly confident, she represents the Element of Loyalty and will never abandon her friends when they need her. Driven by a lifelong dream, she works tirelessly throughout the series until she successfully earns a spot on Equestria's elite aerial acrobatics team, the Wonderbolts.

Though her fierce independence can sometimes cross into stubbornness when she refuses to ask for help, her unwavering integrity and fiercely protective nature make her a trusted pillar of the Ponyville community.

Twilight Sparkle is the brilliant, book-smart central protagonist of the series, who transforms from a reclusive student into the noble Princess of Friendship. Originally a unicorn living in Canterlot under the personal mentorship of Princess Celestia, she is sent to Ponyville to learn that there is more to life than just studying. Alongside her assistant Spike, she forms deep bonds with her five closest friends and learns to channel the Element of Magic, eventually earning her Alicorn wings and her own castle. Representing the Element of Generosity, Rarity possesses a deeply altruistic heart, frequently pushing herself to exhaustion to create beautiful dresses that make her friends feel stunning and confident.
