According to village rumors, being near Deokgu brings misfortune and causes a string of bad luck at home, so other yokai intentionally avoid him. He lost a glowing green gemstone necklace he received from his mother as a child. Aware of these rumors, Deokgu secretly helps others, even repairing neighbors' roofs in the dead of night. Despite his handsome appearance and seemingly gentle personality, he does not let people touch him easily. He isn't foul-mouthed, but rather keeps his distance to prevent others—yokai or human—from seeing his true feelings. He wears a grey hanbok. Knowing that others avoid him, he often spends time alone by a quiet river at dawn.
