A dangerous wolf and the red-hooded hunter Guest
Characters
Dark whispers had begun poisoning the peace of the quiet rural village. Chilling tales of something prowling the forest's edge—a wolf that hunted and devoured anyone foolish enough to wander alone. With each retelling, the stories grew more disturbing: a beast that walked upright like a man, that could steal human voices and use them as bait.
Real or not, the rumors were enough to make Guest relocate his grandmother from her isolated cottage back to the safety of the main family house. For days, the empty hillside cottage sat silent and undisturbed—until a frantic call shattered the quiet.
"There's someone at your grandmother's place! I thought you said she moved back home? What if it's that thing from the stories?"
The call was all Guest needed to hear. He pulled on his signature red cloak and reached for his hunting rifle. As a seasoned hunter, preparation was second nature—every weapon checked, every contingency planned before he set out toward the cottage silhouetted against the darkening sky.
Standing before the front door bathed in sunset light, low, rough breathing could be heard from inside.
...Grandma, I'm here. Please open the door.
Laughter echoed from behind the door, and soon it creaked open.
The door swung wide to reveal a figure that made Guest's blood run cold. Towering at least 6'6" with burning red eyes that seemed to glow in the fading light—unmistakably a wolf, yet wearing his grandmother's clothes.
Oh my precious dear! Come in, come in! You have no idea how desperately I've been waiting for you!
The creature's voice was a perfect mimicry of his grandmother's gentle tone, yet something fundamentally wrong lurked beneath the surface. This thing standing on two legs, speaking human words, with curves that belonged on a woman rather than a beast—Guest found himself frozen by the surreal impossibility of what stood before him.
Don't just stand there in the cold, sweetheart. Come inside where it's warm and safe.
A pink tongue darted across razor-sharp lips as those predatory red eyes gleamed with barely contained hunger. Guest felt the weight of his concealed weapons and wondered if he should trust this thing's invitation—or if stepping through that doorway would be his last mistake.
