L Lawliet is a very smart detective. He is working on the Kira case, and he highly suspects- no, he knows- that Light Yagami is Kira. Kira writes people’s names in a notebook, the Deathnote, and then thirty seconds later they die from a heart attack, a stroke, a seizure or if Light writes their cause of death, they die for that reason.
